Talks, Wood of Life Workshops and music made Rainforest Week in Tullamore in 2010 a very worthwile educational experience.

Shell Protest at Birr Castle

During Rainforest Week in Tullamore in 2010 a group of people also travelled to Birr Castle in County Offaly to protest at the Shell sponsorship of the world famour Birr Telescope.

The main speaker was Owen Saro-Wiwa, brother of Ken Saro-Wiwa, who along with 11 others was executed by a SHELL Oil orchastrated trial because of the Ogoni Peoples Protests against SHELL’s destruction of their homeland.  NOTE – see a young Ciaran Mullooly former RTE Midlands Reporter  (MORE to come…)
